Harrison Acosta

Harrison Acosta recently completed his BA Capstone entitled “Capturing Moments in Music feat. The Human Voice.” Originally studying orchestral performance and film score at the UCF School of Performing Arts, he is preparing to begin advanced study in the Professional Music program at Berklee this fall. Aside from being a professional arranger and contractor for The Vocal Company, he performs with ECA as professional singer in the Orlando area and with Universal as a singer and actor. After directing UCF’s oldest all-male a cappella group – The Crescendudes – he founded UCF’s award-winning, a cappella group Voicebox. Under his direction, Voicebox has placed 4th at ICCA Finals, Performed at the Betsy Showcase in 2014, 2015 and 2017, been crowned the 2016 SoJam Champions, AND now recently crowned the 2018 BOSS Champions. At his final championship competition, Harrison was awarded the “You Did That” award, celebrating his cohesive work on arranging, concept, and execution. He also founded and directs R E M I X – a post-collegiate group featuring a cappella members from all around the state of Florida. Pushing into genres not often explored by a cappella – and using techniques ranging from 18th-century counterpoint to textures found in today’s electronic music – his writing style has been described as a blend of both the “mystical and cinematic.” Harrison has been awarded most outstanding choreography two times, arrangement a total of nine times, holds several CARA nominations, and shares a CARA for Best Electronic/Experimental Song.
